Fun with Typography!

Variation.
Pattern.
Negative space.
Texture.

I can't help but see robots in the "R" inspired wallpaper pattern. Maybe it's having grown up on a diet of "The Jetsons" and "Lost in Space".

I tried to pick a simple word to arrange its letters focusing on the negative space they created. I settled on "pony". I like the way it felt on my tongue.

Perhaps my favorite. I attempted to create texture and movement using text - in this case the fabulous poem "Good Times" by Lucille Clifton.

my daddy has paid the rent
and the insurance man is gone
and the lights is back on
and my uncle brud has hit
for one dollar straight
and they is good times
good times
good times

my mama has made bread
and grampaw has come
and everybody is drunk
and dancing in the kitchen
and singing in the kitchen
oh these is good times
good times
good times

There are so many exquisite letterforms out there. Any well designed typeface is a work of art in itself. In these exercises I attempted to address four separate concepts using letterforms as
my toolkit:

Variation.

Pattern.
Negative space.
Texture.
